Soil Plus is seeking a dependable and safety-minded Dump Truck Fleet Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of heavy-duty dump trucks, slip-in trailer systems, delivery vehicles, and yard equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulic dump systems, commercial truck maintenance, and the ability to diagnose and solve mechanical issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty dump trucks and delivery vehicles (diesel engines)

• Service and repair hydraulic dump systems and slip-in trailer mechanisms

• Maintain and repair crushers and power screeners used in aggregate processing operations

• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections

• Maintain accurate service logs and inspection reports

• Order parts and manage inventory to minimize equipment downtime

• Perform brake repairs, steering system adjustments, and fluid changes

• Test drive trucks before and after repairs to ensure proper operation

• Ensure all repairs comply with DOT safety standards and manufacturer specifications

• Support drivers with roadside assistance or minor on-site repairs when needed

• Maintain clean and organized shop environment

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy-duty trucks or commercial vehicles

• Strong knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic systems

• Working knowledge of dump truck operations and heavy vehicle mechanics

• Ability to diagnose issues using computerized diagnostic equipment and technical manuals

• Valid Hawaii driver's license with clean driving record

• Ability to operate heavy equipment and test drive commercial vehicles

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

• Comfortable working outdoors and in shop environments with noise, diesel exhaust, and dust

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physically demanding work

• ASE certification or diesel mechanic certification preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience with heavy equipment or dump truck maintenance

• Experience with slip-in trailer systems or similar specialized equipment

• Welding experience

• CDL (Commercial Driver's License)

• Own tools

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs

• Ability to work on ladders and step up/down from truck cabs (step heights up to 22 inches)

• Good balance and agility for working on and around heavy equipment

• Ability to reach from ground level to 72+ inches above ground

• Comfortable working in outdoor conditions including heat, noise, and dust

Soil Plus is seeking an experienced CDL Class A Truck Driver to operate our heavy-duty dump trucks delivering soil, cinder, aggregates, and mac nut materials across the Big Island. The ideal candidate will have dump truck experience, knowledge of Big Island roads and delivery locations, and a commitment to safety and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate Class A dump trucks (tandem slip-in trucks and standard dump trucks)

• Deliver soil, compost, aggregates, and construction materials to residential and commercial sites across the Big Island

• Operate hydraulic dump systems and slip-in trailer mechanisms

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections

• Maintain accurate delivery logs and documentation

• Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members

• Navigate challenging delivery locations including narrow driveways, steep grades, and construction sites

• Ensure loads are properly secured and weight limits are observed

• Maintain clean and well-maintained vehicle

• Provide excellent customer service during deliveries

Qualifications:

• Valid Hawaii CDL Class A license with clean driving record

• 2+ years of experience driving dump trucks or heavy commercial vehicles

• Thorough knowledge of Big Island roads, neighborhoods, and delivery locations

• Must be a current Big Island resident or previously from the Big Island (no off-island applications will be considered)

• Ability to safely operate hydraulic dump systems

• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Ability to work independently and manage delivery schedules

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work

• Pass pre-employment and random drug testing

• Experience with slip-in trailer systems

• Experience delivering to residential and construction sites

• Knowledge of aggregate and construction materials

• 5+ years of commercial driving experience
